Bored by seeing hundreds of posts written on gifts and flowers for valentines, I thought to take things in my hands and compiled this post. It features the weirdest of the valentine stories and news that ever occurred.

1. St. Valentine is Not The “Saint of Love”

As reported by BBC News last year, saint Valentine is wrongly associated with finding love. He is the patron saint for those who have “already” found love. St. Raphael is the patron saint for happy encounters. So, unfortunately folks, you are celebrating the wrong day.

2. Zoo-rotica

As TMZ says “Nothing says I love you quite like watching two turtles going at it”. A zoo at Michigan offered a lovers’ special zoo-rotica last valentine’s where couples could go and see the animals make love. That’s actually one of the best ways you can spend your valentine’s and express love to your soul-mates. Truly inspiring.

3. Eatery Presents you Bathroom Sex

At this valentine’s to make the day more special than ever, Eatery, a Canadian restaurant, has devised a plan to offer bathroom sex to the diners. Yes, that’s exactly what Valentine’s day is meant for since Valentine is another synonym for fetish.

Kitchen manager of the restaurant says

We wanted to do something different for Valentine’s Day and stuffed teddy bears have been done. We wanted to branch out a little bit.

8. The Pillow-Fight Crackdown

San Fransisco celebrated Valentine’s day in 2009 for the fourth time in a row with pillow fight. Authorities say the mess left by massive Valentine’s Day pillow fight has led them to take another look at the “flash mob” phenomenon.

The pillow fight, which marked its fourth year in February, involved an estimated 1,500 to 3,000 people at Justin Herman Plaza and left the city with thousands of dollars worth of damages and cleanup costs, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Monday.

9. Say No to Sex

Thailand, one of the most famous countries for prostitution, sex tourism and trade says no to sex on Valentine’s day.

Alarmed by polls showing one in four Thai teens will celebrate St. Valentine’s Day by having sex, police plan to swoop on motels, malls and parks to ensure youths behave themselves on the “Day of Love.”

10. Valentine Bouquets Bad For Planet

In the past three years, the amount of flowers imported from the Netherlands has fallen by 47 per cent to 94,000 tons, while those from Africa have risen 39 per cent to 17,000 tons.

The import, export and high utilization of roses on the Valentine’s day are causing serious implications on climate change in terms of carbon dioxide emissions from aeroplanes.
